Pop Wuj - Spanish School Guatemala is run by Association Pop Wuj, a Guatemalan nonprofit whose responsibilities include teaching, administration, direction of projects, direction of extracurricular activities such as field trips, movies, and lectures, supervision of host families, and making teacher and family assignments. At Pop Wuj we all use our strengths to chip in as needed. The students often find themselves chipping in as well. Pop Wuj has a community atmosphere: we all get to know each other, and we try to make the school “a home away from home” for our students.
Our maximum capacity is now 50, but we often have fewer students. Our students range from preschool children who study with their parents to retired persons in their seventies. The average summer student is college-aged, but there are frequently many others of all ages. We can accommodate families and are able to teach children, depending on their ages, or just take care of them. We suggest you to be housed together if
your children are young. No one will be admitted as an unaccompanied minor
(under age 18) unless he or she will be 18 within the calendar year and has written permission from parents.
The school has a fully equipped kitchen in which our students enjoy free tea, coffee and drinking water. The kitchen is also used by the students and teachers to cook for the weekly school dinner. There is also a big rooftop terrace and two living rooms (interior and exterior) where students can relax and sunbathe. Along with these amenities, we also offer Wi-Fi in the school.
